YWAM IN MALAYSIA

YWAM Malaysia started in 1986 in Pulau Pinang. Since then, YWAM Malaysia has been responding to God by preaching the Gospel, ministering to the poor and disadvantaged communities through development programmes, training Christians of all ages to be disciples through seminars, and training

Since its beginning in Penang, YWAM has since been established in Ipoh, Petaling Jaya, Damansara, Johor, Kota Kinabalu and Sarawak.

Youth with a Mission also known as YWAM (pronounced “WHY-wham”) is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world.

Founded in 1960, we unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known. We reach out in 180+ countries through three main areas —Evangelism, Training, and Mercy Ministry.

July 19th, YWAM PJ will have a DTS. Ipoh’s DTS starts September 20th. YWAM Experience Asia (in Damansara) has a DTS on September 30th. Get in contact with each base directly for more info.

Our YWAM Schools are University of the Nations registered courses. Eleven to twelve (sometimes more) credits will be earned upon successful completion of a course. These credits may then be applied to a U of N degree programme or transferred to other participating colleges or universities. A successfully completed YWAM-DTS is a prerequisite to all other UofN training schools, degree programmes and working long-term with YWAM.

MALAYSIA

MALAYSIA is a country in Southeast Asia - We are the gateway to Asia.

The South China Sea separates us into two regions, Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia.
Our land borders Thailand and Singapore, separated by a saltwater causeway on the Peninsular, Indonesia, and Brunei borders in East Malaysia. Our maritime borders Vietnam and the Philippines.
Kuala Lumpur is our nation’s capital and largest city. With a population of over 32 million, Malaysia is the world’s 43rd-most populous country

We are of diverse ethnicities, cultures, languages, and religions – Ethnic Malays, Chinese and Indians, and the “indigenous” peoples of Malaysia (aka Bumiputera, literally “sons of the earth.”)

Malaysia’s official language is Bahasa Malaysia, a form of Malay. English is also used. Malaysians speak up to 140 additional languages as mother tongues and the indigenous people speak over 100 local languages

Officially, Malaysia is a Muslim country but our Constitution guarantees freedom of religion. It also defines all ethnic Malays as Muslims. We have Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, followers of Chinese philosophies such as Confucianism or Taoism, and those listed as no religion or of indigenous faith.
